By car

Parking for outpatients and visitors is possible outside the hospital and in the underground garage. Please note that the number of spaces is very limited. You have to purchase your parking time from the machines. We encourage you to take public transport for your arrival whenever possible.

By public transport

Balgrist University Hospital has excellent links to public transport and can be reached quickly. From Zurich main station, take tram No. 11 in the direction of Rehalp and alight at the "Balgrist" tram stop (journey time approx. 20 minutes). From Stadelhofen station, take the Forch light railway S18 in the direction of Esslingen or tram No. 11 towards Rehalp and alight at the "Balgrist" tram stop (journey time approx. 10 minutes). You can also reach Balgrist in a very short time by bus line 99 from Zollikon station or by the extended line 77. Thanks to the use of state-of-the-art buses, access for people with walking disabilities or in wheelchairs is also guaranteed.

Timetable

The clinic shuttle service for patients to the clinics in the Lengg area was discontinued on June 30, 2024.

Balgrist University Hospital is accessible during the World Cycling Championships in September

The "UCI Cycling and Para-Cycling World Championships Zurich 2024" will take place from September 21 to 29, 2024. During this time, over 50 races will be held in and around Zurich. This will lead to restrictions for motorized private transport in the city of Zurich and the surrounding area. Balgrist University Hospital can still be reached at all times.

We recommend traveling by public transport if possible. To plan your journey, please consult the online timetable at www.vbz.ch or www.zvv.ch or in the ZVV app. The Forchbahn S18 will be running between Stadelhofen station and Balgrist University Hospital as far as Esslingen throughout the entire World Cycling Championships. From Wednesday, September 25 to Sunday, September 29, streetcar 11 will only run between Stadelhofen station and Balgrist University Hospital as far as Rehalp. SBB trains will run on the normal routes.

If you are coming by car

From September 21 to 24, 2024, Balgrist University Hospital is not located on a closed road. Access by car will not be restricted during this period. In the city center, Utoquai, Bellerivestrasse and Dufourstrasse will be closed. The Quaibrücke bridge in the direction of Rämistrasse will also be closed

From September 25 to 29, 2024, Balgrist University Hospital is located within the race route, but not directly on a closed road. Depending on the time and location, you will have to take different routes to and from the clinic:

  • From 5 am to 7 pm, Balgrist University Hospital can only be reached via the A52 Forchautostrasse. You will need an access permit, which you can download from the Internet. If you have forgotten the permit, please state at the Itschnacher-Kreuzung/Zumikon checkpoint that you wish to drive to Balgrist University Hospital. You will then be granted access. Even if you have an access permit, you must expect delays on the approach.
  • From 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., the race track is dismantled and you can drive in freely.

As a patient, you will receive further information on how to get to our clinic with your invitation.
